Fresh Unwashed White Button Mushroom

Grown in Barasat, picked to order

We cultivate white button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) on our own beds in Barasat, North 24 Parganas. The rooms are held at 12 to 18 degrees Celsius with 80 to 90 per cent humidity and steady ventilation, which is what lets us crop three to four times a year rather than once a winter. Nothing is sprayed on the crop.

Why we send them unwashed

A mushroom is roughly 90 per cent water and has no protective skin. Washing before storage drives water into the tissue, and a wet mushroom turns slimy and grey within a day. Ours go out exactly as they come off the bed, so they reach you firm and dry. Wipe them with a damp cloth just before cooking.

Ordering and quantities

Quantity is measured in kilograms. Set it to the number of kilos you need, at 250 rupees per kilogram, with no minimum on online orders. Use the plus and minus controls in the basket to adjust the weight before you check out.

Delivery and collection

We deliver to your door in Barasat and Barrackpore. Orders from anywhere else, including the rest of Kolkata, are collected from the farm daily until 10 am. Bulk orders start at 28 kg and are quoted directly, so call +91 98300 27967 for the day rate.

Storing what you buy

Keep the mushrooms in paper rather than sealed plastic, and refrigerate them. Paper lets moisture escape while plastic traps it. Handled this way they hold their texture for several days.
